Irvine, who in 2000 and 2001, was the head coach for the NBA's
Detroit Pistons. Irvine was drafted in 1970 by the Seattle
Supersonics (6th pick, 8th round). He played six seasons in the ABA
before a knee injury forced him to retire at the start of the
1976-1977 season. Irvine served as an assistant coach for the
Denver Nuggets (four seasons), Indiana Pacers (five seasons), and
Golden State (two seasons). He led the Pacers as head coach for two
years and was also their Vice President of Basketball Operations for
eight seasons.
